Infrared Technology Options are Varied and Suitable to a Wide Range of Process Applications

FT-NIR (Fourier Transform NIR) Moving Grating
Excellent wavelength stability. Most mature NIR spectrometer.
Highest resolution. Moderate resolution.
Flexible set-up allows optimal use in multiple
applications.
Instrument-to-instrument calibration issues.
Detailed chemical composition analysis of mixtures
of similar constituents.

Diode Array Fixed Wavelength Diodes
Very high speed (< 0.1 sec) capability. Reliability of no moving parts and semiconductor technology.
Excellent wavelength stability. Wavelengths selected are fixed for application.
Fixed position of critical optical components. High speed.
Must be optimized for resolution vs. wavelength range.
AOTF (Acousto-optical tunable filter) FT-IR (Mid Infrared)
Reliability of no moving parts. Similar to FT-NIR with more detailed composition analysis.
Flexibility of full spectrum or fixed wavelength operations
by set-up parameters.
Closest to the analytical capabilities of laboratory
infrared analysis.
High speed. Limited fiber optic capability and sample/spectrometer location
issues makes this wavelength range less convenient for real-time
process analysis.
